Located on 7 acres and totaling 240,000 sf, the Terrace Offices at the Backyard are composed of five buildings that exemplify the seamless integration of building and site. Situated at the intersection of Bee Cave Parkway and RM 620, adjacent to the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, the building forms echo the surrounding geography and dramatic rock outcroppings.
Parking for all five buildings is accommodated in an underground garage that conceals parking from the road. Upon this podium, four buildings are oriented in long bars parallel to the existing topography and perpendicular to Bee Caves Parkway. This arrangement creates a series of outdoor plazas that frame the view to the preserve from both the offices and the parkway. A fifth building is positioned parallel to Bee Cave Parkway to hold the street edge. Additionally, the building heights step down the hill in response to the sloping terrain. The floor plates of each of the 2 and 3-story office buildings are articulated as shifting planes in reference to the striated limestone cliffs of the Preserve.
