The program brief for DEN called for an art gallery and office space within the W hotel in downtown Austin. An opportunity was taken to install a mezzanine over a portion of the 800-square-feet ground floor, moving the office to the back-of-the-house and maintaining a voluminous double height entry for the gallery.

The client is an innovative real estate consultancy that embraces both technology and tradition. The design reflects this dichotomy with a delicate, modern glass curtain wall with wood accents and flooring that provide a warm, old-world feel. Etched glass provides a diffuse glow of light, perfect for the work spaces in the mezzanine. The over sized doors allow large pieces of art or even autos to be on display.
